More Sabbath Fun!
More pictures of our lovely little walk! The one of me is from when Colby caught my smile after I jumped out from behind a tree to catch the kids as they went by! And when we got back to the wooden pathway, we let Elayna down to walk a bit too. She loved being a big girl until we got to a bridge and she looked down through the cracks and saw the river going by underneath her. The she promptly sat down and looked at me like I was crazy for expecting her to walk on that! Sept. 20, 2008.
Sabbath Walk
We went for a nice little walk through the woods on Sabbath after lunch and before naps! It was a short walk, looped around through the trees and over several little bridges over the river, but the kids sure loved it! They were thrilled to be running and jumping over tree roots and ducking under branches and throwing sticks into the water. Sept. 20, 2008.

Getting Bigger Every Day
I can't believe Emmy will be 3 in just a couple of months! She is growing so fast and starting to look like a 3 year old. Wish I could make it slow down. She is such a girlie girl... except when she's out digging worms in the dirt. She sure does love those worms, and I keep having to tell her NOT to bring them in the house!!! Sept. 15, 2008.
Muddy Buddy
Yep, he's all boy. After it rained last week he had a great time getting muddy, getting his trucks muddy, and just being muddy in general. He didn't want to come in and clean up, but I was making him come in and wash up for lunch. After lunch he took those trucks in to a big plastic tupperware bin in the bathtub and washed them up. And then Elayna wandered into the bathroom to check out what was going on, and ended up falling into the bin! Unfortunately for her, the trucks were being given a COLD bath! Poor little girl!! I couldn't get her out of those cold wet clothes and into a warm bath fast enough! It took so long to get those trucks and the dirt out of the way first. Poor little thing! Sept. 14, 2008.

Fall Fun
A Couple of Sabbath Pics
Visit to Auntie Raini's
We took a little trip to see Auntie Raini and Uncle Travis for the weekend. We drove late into Thursday night, leaving after Colby got home from work, and were able to stay until Monday, so it was a nice long weekend. It was really relaxing and fun, and Raini was the hostess with the mostest! We had great food and even some cheesecake! Sabbath evening we had a song time around the piano and then sat out on her lovely front porch (three creaky wooden stairs, ... those squeaky rocking chairs... the well worn welcome mat, the lattice vines, the happy times...) Thanks again, Raini! Hope we can do it again soon! Love ya!

Buckley Old Engine Show - Part 2
I wanted to show a little bit of what we saw at the Old Engine Show. The first picture is of the cedar shake making exhibit. The saw is driven by a belt attached to a tractor engine, and the whole thing seems insanely dangerous. The belt would do some serious damage if you got caught up in it. I was surprised that they didn't have more things set up to keep any wandering kids away. But it was really fascinating to watch. There were a lot of tractors and old machines and they were always getting various classes together for pull-offs and slow tractor contests and such. Aug. 17, 2008.
Buckley Old Engine Show - Part 1
We went to the Buckley Old Engine Show on Sunday and it was a lot of fun! I wasn't sure what to expect, but they had a lot of neat exhibitions going on, and activities for the kids, too! The first thing we did when we got there was get the kids in line for the kids' tractor pull. It was a little pedal tractor with a sled setup very similar to the sleds used at truck and tractor pulls at the fair. When Josh got on the tractor the sled was stuck in "park" and the wheels didn't turn, so he dragged it across the cement pad. And when it was Emmy's turn, they unhooked the sled so she just pedaled the tractor across by itself. Each and every kid got a prize out of the box, so everyone had fun! After that we wandered around and viewed the tractors and the exhibits they had going, like bell casting, cedar shake making, and oil drilling. They had a little tractor engine running ice cream makers, so we got some of that and enjoyed it thoroughly in the hot sunshine! There was a flea market, but we didn't spend a whole lot of time there with the three little ones in tow. The last thing we did before we left was to ride the old steam engine train! That was a really neat experience, riding in the enclosed car with old seats and windows, listening to the chug chug chug! I'll post it up on youtube later and attach it here so you can see! The Kids
My Boy
My son is getting so big! He'll be all grown up and 6'1" before I know it! We're starting homeschool Tuesday, Sept. 2, which is when all Michigan schools start the year. I've got a Hooked on Phonics set, and will get a Piano for Preschoolers set next week, plus I have a lot of workbooks and simple activities, so I'm sure we'll have fun and learn a lot from the experience!
