Campfire at Grandpa and Grandma's

On Saturday night we bundled up the kids and drove out to the V for a campfire. We had cider and roasted hot dogs and the kids ran back and forth to the big rock. Grandpa humored Emmy many times and took her to the garden where she could see over the trees to watch the rising moon. "MOOOOON!!!". Oct. 20, 2007.

Tornado

On Thursday, Oct. 18, there was an F2 tornado. It rolled two mobile homes off their foundations and killed a 30 year old father of 3. In town it tore up the Municipal Airport, wrecking several small aircraft and tearing the roof and walls off one of the hangars. It did damage to several houses, one roof was torn off and several others were damaged by falling trees and branches. During this time, there was a Volleyball game going on at the Middle School, where one of Colby's employees was and the tornado siren went off twice. People were scrambling for hallways and bathrooms for safety, while others jumped into their trucks and tried to find where the tornado was. Hmm...
Here at the farm our power was out and we were listening out the windows to the sounds of the storm. Colby's Mom and Stepdad were camping in their camper by the river, and drove up to our house because they heard the "freight train" sound coming closer. It was an incredible sound! But thankfully, it stopped before it reached an intensity that would drive us into the well pit behind the house. The next day the kids and I drove out to the airport and got these pictures. Praise God it didn't come any closer than it did; that was still too close for comfort. Oct. 19, 2007.

My Baby Girl

What a cutie! I'll update more about Laney in a little bit! Oct. 19, 2007.

My Big Girl

I just can't believe how big Emmy is getting now! She'll be two soon!!! She's starting to speak in sentences now and has learned a few colors. Or maybe I should say that she knows what pink is and her new favorite word is "pretty". Yep, she's a girl. Couldn't get much more different than Joshua! Oct. 19, 2007.

Three Cute Kids

I dressed up the girls in matching outfits and took some pictures today. It was a rare day when they were all clean and dressed at the same time, so I had to take advantage of it! Oct. 19, 2007.

Day 19

As you can see, his scab had mostly gone by this time and so much of the redness as well. Even the swelling beneath the skin had gone down significantly. It looks really good for less than 3 weeks later! Oct. 15, 2007.
